Born in Glasgow and raised on Scotland’s rugged West Coast, Sam absorbed the culture of whisky from an early age. A graduate of the University of Edinburgh, he trained as a medical doctor and psychiatrist, and holds a PhD in machine learning applied to psychosis — a rare blend of analytical thinking, emotional insight, and deep understanding of people, processes… and whisky.
Alongside his clinical and academic work, Sam has been deeply embedded in the Scotch whisky industry for many years. He has led bespoke whisky branding and cask projects for business owners, hospitality professionals, and industry insiders — guiding them through cask selection, maturation, branding, and bottle production to create unique, premium whisky expressions with soul and story.
